A penpal relationship is often used to practice reading and writing in a foreign language, to improve literacy, to learn more about other countries and life-styles, and to make friendships. As with any friendships in life, some people remain penpals for only a short time, while others continue to exchange letters and presents life-long. Some penpals eventually arrange to meet face to face. Some pen pals even get married.
Do you have a pen pal?
I do!
And her name is Leanne.
We get to know each other through a magazine called “Galaxy” back in Malaysia and that was like more than 10 years ago. Geez, I don’t know if this mag still exist now! Haha.. Both of us were so madly insanely in love with Melanie Chrisholm. Yes, it’s Sporty Spice from the Spice Girls. I have most of their CDs, the one and only movie, hard cover books, VCDs (gig) and I’ve spent hundreds of dollar buying foreign mags just to get the poster of Spice Girls because internet wasn’t popular at that time. Anyway, we have known each other for more than 10 years and have only met each other 4 times!
First time was in Malaysia just before she migrated to Australia. Second time was also in Malaysia when she came back for holidays. Third time was 2007 in Canberra when I was here for 3 months holiday. Forth time was few weeks ago in Sydney. She was here for a conference. We had dinner in Sushi Rio the city and it was so so fun!
Okay, this is her.

This picture was taken in Sushi Rio.
Updated: Thanks Lea! For correcting me of the mag name.

Hahahaha… something told me to check your blog. I thought it was a bizarre feeling but true enough, there was a post dedicated to me, and my ugly face splashed across your blog. Gagagagagaga…
Thanks Angie for writing this. It’s true, it’s true. More than 10 years friendship but only met 4 times. It’s hard to believe for most people but I think this is what has made our friendship so strong. Don’t you reckon?
It was lovely to meet you and Ed in Sydney. Thanks for the dinner. I said I would be back for Jay Chou’s concert, and yet I still haven’t got the tickets yet. Sigh… been real busy at work.
I will make a post about you, you wait. Hahahaha…
PS. The magazine is spelt ‘Galaxy’ with a y. LOL
Till then…
xoxo Luv Leanne
